I am Omar Faruk, an emerging accounting professional based in Hobart. I have completed my Bachelor of Business studies, majoring in Accounting, at the University of Tasmania and am awaiting my final results. I am keen to build my career in Tasmania and pursue the CA or CPA qualification.
My experience includes preparing individual tax returns through the UTAS Tax Clinic and completing a placement with the Department for Education, Children and Young People, where I drafted a debt management policy and procedure. I have also analysed ASX-listed companies to assess financial performance, identify risks and recommend actions to support informed decisions.
I bring skills in Excel, financial analysis and research, supported by three years of customer service experience. I value accuracy, integrity and clear communication, and enjoy helping people understand financial information.
Outside accounting, I enjoy travelling, swimming and cricket. Exploring new places and cultures keeps me curious and helps me connect with people from different backgrounds. Hobart has become home, and I enjoy being part of the local community.

I analysed the financial performance and position of AIC Mines, an ASX-listed mining company. I assessed profitability, liquidity, solvency and efficiency, and used financial ratios and the Altman Z-Score to explore potential financial distress. I developed recommendations to help managers identify emerging financial issues and make proactive decisions.
